CHAPTER PRESIDENT
Joanne Daly
Joanne Daly is a Financial Advisor with UBS Financial Services, Inc. in Providence. She works closely with clients to develop long-term financial planning strategies and help them to achieve their financial goals and dreams. Her practice focuses on retirement planning, estate planning and educational funding, as well as life and long-term care insurance. She also works closely with CPAs and attorneys in servicing individuals who are managing the challenges of divorce, serious family illness and widowhood.

Joanne has over 14 years of public accounting and financial planning experience, including serving as a tax manager at firms such as, Ernst and Young (Pittsburgh and Providence) and Piccerelli, Gilstein and Co, LLC. As a former Director of Planned Giving for the Pittsburgh United Way, Joanne also assists non-profit organizations in building their planned giving/endowment programs.

Joanne is a graduate of Bryant University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Masters of Science in Taxation. She earned her CPA Certificate in 1983 and is a member of the Rhode Island Society of CPAs, the American Society of Women Accountants and the Planned Giving Council of Rhode Island. She is also a member of the Personal Financial Planning Committee for the Rhode Island Society of CPAs.


PRESIDENT ELECT
Marie L. Higgins
Marie L. Higgins is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accountancy at Johnson & Wales University. There she is the Advisor to the Accounting Association and the Coordinator for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.  She received her law degree (J.D.) from New England School of Law, her graduate degree (M.B.A. – Accounting Concentration) from Bryant University and her undergraduate degree (B.S. – Business Administration) from the University of Rhode Island. Marie is an Attorney licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Rhode Island. She is a Rhode Island Certified Public Accountant. She is currently the a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Rhode Island Association of Accounting Professors.

VICE-PRESIDENT / SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE CHAIR
Patricia Chmura, MBS
Patricia is the Owner/Treasurer of East Chop Sleep Shop, Inc. on the Island of Martha's Vineyard. East Chop Sleep Shop sells Sealy Posturepedic, Stearns & Foster, Tempurpedic, and Symbol beds, as well as a full line of futons, futon & bedroom furniture and linens. The store was started in 1984 by her husband Michael as a seasonal business and has grown to become a full time, year 'round operation that also has a successful website. Prior to running East Chop full time, Patricia worked for Textron Fiancial Corporation as Senior Tax Account from the inception of the tax department in 1989. Her responsibilities included preparing and filing the state tax returns and franchise tax returns for thirteen legal entities in every state, as well as the state annual reports, and 1099's.

Patricia received her MBA in business management from Bryant University, and her BA in Psychology from Providence College.


CHAPTER TREASURER
Cathy Furtado, BS
Cathy received her BS from Bryant University in May 1991 with a major in accounting. She is currently employed as an Accounting Manager at Living Microsystems, Inc.  Living Microsystems, Inc is an early stage company focused on providing pregnant women and their physicians with information regarding fetal well-being and to provide a non-invasive prenatal screening test to all women, based on a maternal blood sample that can be obtained early in pregnancy.  Prior to joining Living Microsystems, Inc Cathy was employed by RenaMed Biologics, Inc., a leading venture-funded, clinical stage cellular therapy company dedicated to the design, development, and commercialization of human cell replacement systems. She previously worked for manufacturing and retail companies for the past 10 years.

Linda McKay
Linda is currently the Controller and Operations Director for Narragansett Brewing Company.  Prior to joining Narragansett Beer, she was Comptroller for
Carnegie Abbey Club in Portsmouth, RI. She has also worked for Behan Brothers, a construction company, for two years and for Newport Habor Corporation for twelve years. Linda and her husband Bill own Fast Picture Framing in Portsmouth. She is also a member of the Portsmouth Business Association.

IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT
Deb Marcoux, MBA
Deb is currently working at Covidien, where she is a Director of Financial Analysis & Planning within the Medical Supplies division.  Prior to joining Covidien (formerly Tyco Healthcare), Deb was employed at AlliedSignal Automotive where she held various Accounting positions within the Fram/Bendix/Autolite divisions.  She holds a Masters degree (M.B.A.) from Bryant College Graduate School with a concentration in Operations and Technology and an undergraduate Accounting degree (B.S.) from Bryant College. She is also a member of the Institute of Managerial Accountants.


NORTHEAST REGIONAL DIRECTOR
Inez Mello, MBA
Inez M. Mello is a Principal and Director of State and Local Tax Services at Carlin, Charron & Rosen, LLP.  Inez received her B.S. degree in accounting and her M.B.A. in taxation from Bryant University.  She has continued her scholastic pursuits, serving as an adjunct professor for Bryant University and the Community College of Rhode Island.

Inez joined Carlin, Charron & Rosen, LLP in 2007 after serving as Director of State and Local Tax Services for 9 years with a local accounting firm.  She has over 18 years of experience in state and local taxes.  She also served for nine years as corporate senior tax accountant in the state and local tax administration (SALT) for a fortune 500 company.  Over the past 10 years, she has developed a SALT program which encompasses an in-depth assessment process, a proven cost savings implementation of voluntary disclosure in state jurisdictions and effective ongoing compliance programming.

Inez is a frequent speaker at various business and education symposiums, and has taught various multi-state tax seminars.  She is the Northeast Regional Director for the American Society of Women Accountants and served as past President of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Society of Women Accountants. She is the Co-Chair of the Small Business Council for the Providence Chamber of Commerce and is also an Ambassador for the Providence Chamber of Commerce. The U.S. Small Business Administration has selected Ms Mello as the winner of the 2007 Rhode Island Women in Business Champion of the Year Award. Inez is a member of the Lt. Governor's Small Business Advocacy Council and serves on the Community College of Rhode Island's Alumni Association's Board of Directors.  She is also the Rhode Island General Editor and author for LexisNexis Matthew Bender. Ms. Mello is a member of the Institute of Managerial Accountants. .

Ms. Mello resides in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
